A Narrative of Rig 201 Cabin Reconstruction by PDEX

On the fourth day of the International Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Exhibition, a technical workshop was held at the Sina Energy Holding booth to present the details of the “Reconstruction of the Driller’s Cabin of Rig 201” by Pars Drilling and Energy Development Company (PDEX), drawing particular interest from students and young professionals.

According to Sina Energy, the early hours of May 9, 2024, Rig 201 operated by PDEX experienced a blowout of oil and gas. Within 20 minutes, the operations team managed to contain the resulting fire. However, the blowout and fire completely destroyed several components of the rig, including the driller’s cabin.

With the backing of company leadership and the technical repair department—and without any outsourcing—the damaged equipment, especially the driller cabin, was rebuilt in 45 days using the original rig blueprints. Following the reconstruction, the cabin was successfully tested on Rig 204 and is now fully operational as part of an active drilling campaign.
